Only the most astute businesses can spot opportunity in the most dire of circumstances, and YouTuber Cody Detwiler (aka WhistlinDiesel) has done just that with his newest move. While most influencers end up wrecking rare and costly vehicles in the hopes of recouping the money through ad income, Cody discovered a method to profit off the wreckage of the vehicles he wrecked by creating viral content. You may recall that the American influencer created a series of films centered on his $400,000 Ferrari F8 Tributo in which he severely destroys the supercar by performing a variety of insane stunts.
The Ferrari is eventually burnt down to a char in the last footage after being driven like a lunatic through a cornfield. Obviously, the burnt remnants of the Ferrari could only be considered unusable. But Cody had the bright notion to destroy what was left of his Ferrari and sell it to his admirers. Brilliant!
In his most recent video, he discusses the brilliant notion of selling the shredded remnants of the Ferrari to his admirers as mementos. The movie also walks you through the entire process of sorting all of the pieces, cleaning them of waste and plastic bits, grinding them into form, and ultimately placing them in transparent acrylic boxes.
Each cube is autographed by the influencer and comprises around one pound of metal from the automobile. Surprisingly, the Ferrari isn’t the only car that has had the same modification. Cody also produced a series of movies in which he pushed a red Mercedes-AMG G63 through several durability tests and underwent a lot of punishment. The fire-breathing luxury SUV was damaged beyond repair and was also ultimately shredded to bits and boxed to be sold to fans.
It’s common knowledge that Ferrari dislikes individuals tampering with its brand image and is quick to slam people with notifications and litigation for failing to follow their ownership standards. It is blasphemy to first burn down their supercar and then rip it to shreds to sell as a memento. Perhaps this is why the influencer did not identify the automobiles in the crates he is selling. The internet retailer carries 729 boxes of “Pieces of a Fast Red Italian Supercar” and 899 cubes of “Pieces of a Red German Luxury SUV.” In the video, he even avoids identifying the automobiles.
The crate holding the Ferrari pieces costs $229 apiece, while the box containing the G-Wagen remnants costs $189. However, you’ll be astonished to learn that all boxes were snatched up within a few days of being on sale. This is insane!
